Hi, I'm Helen the artist behind Sunnyjolly Designs (SJD) and I'm SO excited to share with you my exciting new venture! SJD shop and creative hub in Pudsey, Leeds
For years I have dreamt of having my own 'bricks and mortar' hub for SJD and when I found these premises it was an absolutely perfect fit.
It is going to be a HUGE amount of work and is pretty scary stepping into the unknown, the cost is (scarily) large but after much thought and planning I have decided I need to have faith and take a leap to the unknown.
Why am I doing this?
SJD is my passion, I dream about art, dream about ideas, dream about upcycling and dream about creating smiles and joy with art. I have found it so difficult stepping into the art world, its a daunting place- Is my art good enough? I was told at school I couldn't draw. I am useless at art. I cant even draw a stickman. I wish I could do that. Colour is scary. These are all things I have heard far too many times.
I truly believe art can make a difference, I truly believe everyone can be creative, there is no right and wrong, no right and wrong with the materials you use, no right and wrong colours. EVERYONE can enjoy art, EVERYONE can create art, EVERYONE can enjoy the happiness and joy that art and creating can bring.
Your crazy for opening a shop right now, shops are closing, the high street is struggling.... I have heard this numerous times, but SJD is so much more than a business and making money for my family. Of course I have to make money to feed my family, however my dream is to make SJD a shop and creative hub for all. I am beaming with ideas to bring creativeness to the community, bringing a creative hub to Pudsey where people can enjoy art, relax, laugh and smile. A place full of friendly faces, happiness and somewhere to bring comfort and creativity.
So (and this is so scary) I am fundraising to bring SJD shop, art space and creative hub to Pudsey. I am looking to raise £2000 to help with the costs of the set up, 'revamp' to the space and all the equipment etc which is needed.
