Traditional Rag Rugging Workshop
Step back in time and learn the wonderful craft of traditional rag rugging – a skill once used by working-class families to create warm, durable rugs from recycled fabrics.
After visiting the historic craft demonstrations at Beamish at Christmas and learning the skills, I was inspired to bring this beautiful, sustainable tradition to life in this hands-on workshop.
Using fully recycled fabrics and materials, you’ll learn the traditional rag rugging techniques and begin creating your very own rug. As a full rug takes time to complete, during the session you will:
• Learn the traditional rag rugging method
• Create and complete a section of your own rug
• Gain the skills and confidence to finish the rug at home
Rag rugs are wonderfully warm, cosy and sustainable, making them a perfect addition to any home.
☕ Free tea and coffee will be provided so you can relax and enjoy the crafting experience.
Date: Friday 24th April
Session Times:
• 1:00 – 3:00 PM
• 6:00 – 8:00 PM
Location:
35A Richardshaw Lane
Pudsey
LS28 7NB
Come along, learn a traditional skill, and start creating something beautiful from recycled materials.
